#9. Holy Initiate / Hermit

Thunderstorms activate the Central Valley. 
It's time to Retreat indoors and to reflect 
on the silent passing of Indian Summer. 
09/09/09 marks a time of completion. 
09/11/15 recycles memories for healing 
painful personal loss, planetary trauma. 

Cerberus, a Triple Headed Jackal, sits
at the entrance to the Underworld within 
my creative imagination and lucid Dreams.
As all Soul Questars, I must stop and rest, 
before I begin my Journey within, to face 
Personal Shadows and unresolved issues.

Enacting this Soul Recovery Process some
Native Americans perform Sun Dances,to  
free Light from within Darkness of being. 
As Holy Initiates, we must find our own
personal practices for sacred retreating, 
through art, music, silence, or Nature. 

Embodying the sacred wisdom of Deer, 
compassion, kindness and gentleness 
of Spirit, can heal our wounded Soul. 
Living a fearless life, allows one to be 
a courageous free being, who can say 
No to Ego, Yes to conflict resolution. 

My favorite place for hermitage is along 
the upper northern coast of California, 
at Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon.
My Soul finds Peace there, listening to 
the sounds of the waves, birds, deer, 
elk, silence of the lush, moist canyon.

I travel inward when I hear, sing or
join others in chanting sacred Kirtan, 
during meditative prayer and ceremony. 
Movement practice encourages me to 
stretch my body-mind-spirit connection, 
to release stress, tension, restore flow.

Awareness of the changing Seasons and 
preparation for future cycles, is essential 
for our personal and collective survival. 
At the same time, it is vitally important 
to remain present within each moment, 
so we can make wise, efficient choices.
  
How fluidly we respond vs react to Life, 
to express our truth, love and gratitude,
reveals true levels of personal mastery.
Do we grow old resentful and unfulfilled? 
Or grow young at heart, joyfully amused,
curious, ready to explore new adventures. 

In the Elder Season of our Life Quest,we 
reflect on our Story, realizing we' re the 
writer and the director of our Earth Play. 
Embodying the wisdom and tools we have 
gathered while in hermitage, we weave 
the Golden Thread that leads us Home.
