Earth Mother is alive here in the valley,
as summer gardens flow with abundance.
The slow simmering, fragrant aroma of
tomato and fresh basil fills our senses.
Appetites are satisfied with cucumbers,
squash, watermelons and fruit varieties.
Children flit in and out, energizing space
like hummingbirds joyously seeking nectar.
They bless this familial space with off-key
concertos and melodies of joyful laughter.
A horse whinnies, evoking a dog's bark, as
four wheelers return from explorations.
As Mid-Life continues, awareness recycles
all that is no longer a necessity in my life.
Mother Gaia is undergoing the hot flashes
of menopause as well, challenging us all.
Microcosm mirrors microcosm in a struggle
for hormonal balance, peace with gravity.
Things begin to slow down, including body
functions and minds begin to malfunction.
Relationships with the Self, environment
and time, are examined to restore health.
Body-mind connections crave attunement
with nature's wild life and basic elements.
Many moons have passed since Children,
have blessed family, home and the Elders.
A resonant buzz of sister-in-laws nephews
and nieces reminds me of my farm school.
First Brother's home provides many places
for "hide and seek" marathons and relaxing.
Finding and maintaining a balanced Life,
requires daily practice of Self-discipline.
We can choose to model true Self-love by
nourishing ourselves with organic foods.
Exercising, meditating, praying, creating
music and art helps to nurture our heart.
Mothering Self with healthy boundaries,
and teaching this to beloveds, is a gift.
Travel and communication with Elders,
Animals and Children, feed the Soul.
Community service and also solitude
create a sense of vitality, well being.
I pray healing for Mother Earth's
heart and all of her energy centers.
May her natural resources, which she
gifts freely, be abundantly replenished.
Breathing in rhythm with Mother Gaia,
may we give and receive Inner-Peace.
